5 Ways Lavender is Used for Relaxation

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a sweet, floral aroma that is soothing and refreshing.

Lavender's aroma is great for relaxing and winding down before bedtime; add to bath or diffuse to create a calming and comforting environment. Lavender essential oil may compliment your favorite shampoos, lotions and skin care products. Because it is the most versatile of all essential oils, no home should be without it.

Lavender is a great solution for relaxing before bedtime, yet it has the balancing properties that can also boost stamina and energy. Take these steps to relax and rest better at night:
  • Add five drops to one cup epsom salt for a relaxing bath before bed.
  • Rub on bottoms of feet to ease restlessness and encourage peaceful sleep.
  • Diffuse or inhale lavender essential oil before bed, combating restlessness, calming your mind, body and spirit.
  • Dilute 20:1 with water and a dash of witch hazel to spray on sheets to promote relaxation.
  • Rub a few drops of lavender oil on your hands and spread over your child's pillow to help him/her sleep.
At times it seems we all have difficulty going to sleep, or staying asleep. Lavender is a pleasant, natural invitation to the sand man. More rest means less stress!
